Getting the right impression from the start can be really important in this industry - it is likely to determine whether you get or lose the job! Here are our top tips for the industry!
- Attend all meetings on time and come prepared with ideas to share - there is nothing worse than turning up late and with no ideas at all!
- Make sure the Production Manager is updated on your thoughts for the event - send them your plans if need be but make sure they know these are subject to change.
- Attend all rehearsals even if you really don't want to be there and could have something a lot better to do with your time.
- Make sure all of your paper work and plans are processed long in advance and ensure to keep every deadline you are given.
- Even if you think the artists/directors idea is rubbish and won't work, work with them to improve it and come to a mutually agreed upon solution.
- Don't shout at members of your team if they are doing something wrong or not how you would like it - take them aside and explain to them how to improve and offer to work with them untill they are completing the task correctly.
- After the event, leave the director with a copy of all the paper work you have produced in case they want to run the event again - and if you did a good job it could save you time on future work.
- Complement everyone at the end of the event and ensure that they all have taken away something beneficial to them.
