Truss is a key part of rigging, it is used in many aspects from flying sound systems and lights to holding up banners. As standard you can get three types of truss, box truss (square), triangular and ladder truss. Each of these use the sample principle when joining them together however when adding slings for chain hoists it can be different.
Box truss is the most common type of truss and is useful as it can make any shape providing you have the right corner pieces, to add one bit of truss to another you should first of all put the eggs in the truss, then you should add the pins through the hole in the truss and through the egg connecting to two bits of truss together and securing them. Finally you should add the R clips through the pins to stop them from slipping out, that's it, all you need to do to join two bits of truss. See our safe rigging guide for more information on joining and rigging trussing safely.
When adding slings it comes down to how you like to do it, personally I wrap the sling over the top beams and then round again and join it with a shackle but that just personal preference, there are many ways you can do it. When selecting a shackle always ensure that it is weight rated to at least the maximum load that you are going to apply to the truss.
